🤝 “No Guesswork, No Surprises — You Only Pay for the Time I Work”

Transparent, Fair & Capped
Computer Repair & IT Support Rates

Two tariffs, not one. Scheduled / non-emergency work is £25 per 15 minutes, a home visit is £50 for the first 30 minutes, and ordinary labour is capped at £75 an hour, normally on a 24-hour turnaround. Emergency virus and scam cleanup is same-day Ascot visit, pickup and return if possible: £550 same-day attempt, or £350 in 48 hours. The £75 cap does not apply to emergency work. If a Tier 1 job cannot be finished safely the same day it drops to Tier 2 on its own and the balance falls from £350 to £150, so the total becomes £350 — the price can only ever move down.

Travel is free across all covered Berkshire areas, diagnostics are free when combined with a repair, and complex jobs (SSD upgrades, data recovery) get a fixed quote before work starts.

No hidden fees, no inflated quotes. Just honest, efficient fixes with my 100% No-Fix, No-Fee Guarantee.

Common IT Service Tasks & Estimated Costs

Prices include labour. Hardware parts (e.g. SSD drives, power supply units) are quoted separately. I am not VAT registered — there is no VAT to add: the price you see is the price you pay.

How to read this table: scheduled (non-emergency) labour is £25 per 15 minutes, a home visit starts at £50 (first 30 minutes), and any hour of ordinary repair is capped at £75, normally with a 24-hour turnaround. Emergency virus, malware and scam-pop-up removal is same-day Ascot visit, pickup and return if possible: £550 for a same-day attempt or £350 for a 48-hour priority recovery, with £200 to book and the balance on return — never charged if the infection cannot be removed. A 30-minute printer fix is still £50 — travel included, always.

Why Choose BITS

The Berkshire IT Services Promise

💰 You Save Money

With my £75 hourly cap, a full 1-hour repair costs 25% less than standard £100/hr IT callout rates.

⏱️ No Clock-Watching

I work efficiently to resolve your problem promptly. You only pay for the time I work, tracked in 15-minute blocks.

🎓 Local Specialists

Locally owned Windows PC and laptop specialists, in business since 2010 with a team carrying 30+ years of combined IT sector experience, serving Ascot and the surrounding Berkshire towns.

Who this pricing is not for

A few honest exclusions, so nobody wastes a phone call: most jobs happen in your home or office, or remotely via secure screen-share; Mac hardware repairs, laptop screen replacements and board-level soldering are referred to specialists rather than attempted; and call-outs are limited to Ascot and the surrounding Berkshire/Surrey-border towns in my coverage list. If any of those is what you need, I will say so on the phone and point you somewhere useful instead of booking a job I can't complete.

Frequently Asked Questions

Pricing & Payment Questions

Ordinary scheduled repairs are capped at £75 for any single hour, normally on a 24-hour turnaround. For example, a 90-minute ordinary repair costs £112.50 (£75 for the first hour + £37.50 for the remaining 30 minutes). Emergency virus, malware and scam-pop-up removal is same-day Ascot visit, pickup and return if possible: £550 for a same-day attempt or £350 for a 48-hour priority recovery, with £200 to book and the balance on return — never charged if the infection cannot be removed. The £75 cap does not apply to emergency work. If a Tier 1 job cannot be finished safely the same day it drops to Tier 2 on its own and the balance falls from £350 to £150, so the total becomes £350 — the price can only ever move down.

Yes! For standard tasks like SSD upgrades (£89 fitting + the drive at cost) or complex jobs like clean-room data recovery and SSD upgrades, I diagnose the machine upfront and give you a guaranteed fixed price quote before starting.

For home or office visits in Ascot, Sunningdale, Bracknell, Bray, Windsor, and surrounding villages, I have a half-hour minimum charge (£50) with zero callout travel surcharges. Subsequent time is billed at £25 per 15 minutes, capped at £75/hour for ordinary repair.

Phone and remote diagnostics are always free, with no obligation. On a home visit, the £50 minimum covers up to 30 minutes of diagnostic and repair work combined. If I diagnose a fault I can fix and you go ahead, the diagnosis is simply part of the repair. If I cannot fix the problem — or you decide not to go ahead with the recommended repair — you pay nothing for the diagnosis: a visit of 30 minutes or less costs £0, and you only ever pay for extra time you specifically asked us to spend beyond those first 30 minutes.

No. I am not VAT registered, so there is no VAT added to any quote or invoice — the price you see is the price you pay.

Yes! Every job comes with an itemised invoice showing my trading name, my sole-trader status, a breakdown of the work performed, any parts supplied, and the total amount due — for home users, sole traders and local companies alike.

Invoices are payable within 14 days of the invoice date. If I haven't received payment by then, I send a friendly reminder. If an invoice is still unpaid after 21 days, a one-off £15 late-payment administration fee is added to cover my admin and recovery costs — it is never a daily charge or a percentage of the invoice.

I accept cash, bank transfers (BACS / Faster Payments), and all major debit and credit cards via PayPal secure processing.

My Promise

The No-Fix, No-Fee Guarantee — Terms in Plain English

  • What counts as “fixed”: the fault you booked us for is resolved and you have confirmed it works before I ask for payment.
  • When you pay nothing: I cannot reproduce the fault, the repair proves impossible, or fixing it would be uneconomical — you owe us nothing for labour.
  • Partial success: if only part of a problem is resolved, you approve the outcome first and pay only for the time genuinely spent — never the full quoted rate for an unresolved fault.
  • If the fault comes back: if the same fault returns within 30 days of my visit, call me and I will re-check and re-fix my work at no labour charge.
  • If a job runs long: if work looks likely to take longer than the estimate I gave you, I stop and get your approval before going past it. You are never billed beyond an agreed estimate without your explicit go-ahead.
  • If you decline the repair: declining a recommended repair costs you nothing — there is no call-out fee and no diagnosis charge. The only exception is extra time you specifically asked us to spend beyond the first 30 minutes of a visit.
  • Exclusions: hardware parts, third-party software licences, and specialist off-site data recovery are quoted separately and agreed upfront — you always approve these costs before I buy or install anything.
  • Diagnostics: always free when combined with any repair.

The Berkshire Visit Promise

Every visit carries the same four commitments, in writing, before you pay a penny: free diagnostics before any work starts; 100% No-Fix, No-Fee if I can't solve it; zero travel surcharge anywhere in my coverage area; and 15-minute billing on ordinary repair, capped at £75 an hour.

One technician, personally — which is why a maximum of two home visits a day is the honest limit. When today's two slots are taken, you get first call on tomorrow's.

Call (01344) 935008 now to claim a slot — if today's are gone, you're first in line for tomorrow's.

P.S. Two ways this goes. Keep comparison-shopping and hope the fault sorts itself out — it won't, and a £50 fault left alone can still end in a dead machine. Or call (01344) 935008: diagnostics are free, quotes are fixed before work starts, and if I can't fix it, you pay nothing. That's the worst case. The best case is a computer that behaves by tomorrow.
